Making Long-Overdue Investments in Our Schools

Mayor Stoney’s budget provides $18.5 million to fully fund the Richmond Public Schools (RPS) strategic plan—Dreams4RPS—and provides $19 million to fully fund RPS’ maintenance needs. This budget will:

  • Provide an equitable literacy plan.
  • Restructure English and math curricula.
  • Increase the number of school counselors and nurses.
  • Improve performance of the RPS bus system.
  • Increase salaries for teachers and support staff.

Paving Roads to Strengthen Communities

73% of Richmond residents agree, our streets could use improvement. And the facts support that sentiment—65% of our roads are in poor condition, needing repair or repaving. That’s over $100 million in street repair and maintenance needs. Mayor Stoney’s proposed budget provides new funding for Richmond DPW so that we can stop playing “whack-a-mole” with potholes in our roads.
